Rabbi Kim Blumenthal

Rabbi Kim Blumenthal Whether volunteering alongside our students on Alternative Spring Break, teaching in the congregation or speaking from the bima, Rabbi Kim Blumenthal is an enthusiastic leader in all facets of synagogue life. Rabbi Blumenthal has been at Beth Israel Congregation since 2008, and has enjoyed making the community her home.

Rabbi Blumenthal received Rabbinic Ordination from The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) in 2006. She also holds a MA in Jewish Education and a BA in Rabbinic Literature from JTS, as well as a BA from Columbia University in Sociology.

While studying for the rabbinate, Rabbi Blumenthal held numerous teaching positions in New York City and also worked with congregations in Scranton, PA and Ventnor, New Jersey. Rabbi Blumenthal completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at the New York University Medical Center. Upon ordination, she received a prize for Homiletics and the Men’s Club Prize for Student Leadership. Rabbi Blumenthal served Congregation Beth Israel in Vernon, CT for three years before coming to Beth Israel.

Rabbi Blumenthal loves to travel, a passion she developed as a teenager on USY on Wheels, the Conservative Movement’s cross-country summer program. She later returned to work for the program for several years, during which time she met her husband, Ira Horowitz.
