Bar/Bat Mitzvah Family Series

To the Parents and Students of the 7th grade class:

I want to review and give you some more details about the project I spoke about on Sunday morning.

We would like each of you to discuss the following question:

Which verse in the Torah specifically speaks to you as you go through this process of Bar/Bat Mitzvah? Which one verse would you pick as the most meaningful for you on a personal level at this time?

At the last session of our series, we will divide into small groups and give each family the opportunity to discuss its choice with the others and then we will come up with a way to share all of the verses with the entire group at a later time.

In choosing your verse, you may consider any number of factors: its location in the Torah (is there a verse in your parsha that speaks to you?), the presence of a meaningful name (as we discussed on Sunday), a verse which speaks to your values as a family or any other factor.

When it comes time to present the verse, you may decide to create something artistic based on the verse or just talk about it. There are no expectations on the presentation, just a hope that you will take the time to discuss the question seriously in your family over the next two months.
