Beth Israel Congregation Board Meeting Minutes

Present: Rashes, Bernstein, Hirshbein, S. Rubenstein, Liberman-Lampear, Peller, Landau, Adler, Dwoskin, Lamm, J. Rubenstein, Winkelman, Winter, Sorkin

Executive Vice President Rashes opened meeting at 8:09 p.m... He announced that 64 members will travel to Israel on Sunday, June 24, 2007. He welcomed the new board members. Agenda was approved by Winkelman and Hirshbein. Minutes were corrected and approved by Landau and Hirshbein.

Executive Director: Sorkin presented Financial report. He reviewed a chart of yearly maintenance activities. In concert with Barry Margolis, the chair of the Building Committee, bids have been sought for a new HVAC contract, sealing of the parking lot, the repainting of 2010, and the replacing of the garage doors. JC Beal will be requested to fix entryway steps. The Beth Israel website will be updated and revised. A committee will be formed. Program Director Eial Dujovny is leaving at the end of July. Sign up sheets for D'Var Torah and presenting gift to B'nai Mitzvah recipients were passed out.

Old Business: Landau gave a brief update of her meeting with Arborcrest owner Wanda and will follow up with a meeting with another employee, Tara.

New Business: Rashes announced that Habitat for Humanity has a project, "House of Abraham,� which Beth Israel may wish to participate in. It was proposed that part of the funds from the BIC New Years card will allocated to this project. Lamm suggested that people may contribute towards the New Years card using Pay-Pal. New kitchen and Library committees are being formed.

Membership: S. Rubenstein asked for standard meeting nights and suggested Wednesdays for the Membership Committee. He will give the dates to Sorkin.

New Board Orientation scheduled for July 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Programs: Hirshbein reported that a good programming infrastructure is in place for the coming year. .

Religious Committee: Bernstein announced July 12 meeting for Religious Committee members and minyan captains to discuss the minyan.

HaShaliach information is due by 1st Friday of every month.

Men's Club: Rashes reports that Usher Coordination will be underway soon.

Women's League: Peller announced that regional meeting will be held on July 18 at Beth Israel. An Old Board/New Board Meeting will take place this summer, date to be determined. Opening event on September 9 will feature Ruth Behar � "Jews in Cuba"
