Shabbat Greeters

The Shabbat Greeter does the following
1. Smiles and greets every member by saying Shabbat Shalom
2. Answers typical questions
*Where is the bathroom?
*Is this where so and so's Bar/Bat Mitzvah is taking place?
*Are the books inside?
4. Gently reminds guests that males are requested to wear a cap - kipah.
5. Advises parents that there is child care for 2 - 5 year olds from 10:00 a.m. on. All
Saturday programs are listed on a posted schedule in the foyer). Takes parents and child downstairs if this is the first time they are in the building.
6. Points out the posted schedule where all Saturday programs are listed with the room numbers.
7. Asks if a guest would like an brochure explaining the service (located in a basket on the foyer table.)
8. On the second and fourth Saturday, at 11:00 p.m. Beth Israel offers a wonderful kid oriented Tot Shabbat service for 3 - 6 year olds and their parent(s). Parents should be encouraged to try it out --
it's well worth it, and they will thank the greeter for suggesting it.
