Green Team Simple Truth Drop-off at BIC
Sunday, August 8, 2021 • 30 Av 5781
10:00 AM - 12:00 PMBIC Green team opens new opportunities for recycling hard to recycle materials, Second Sundays 10 a.m. – Noon April through November.
Beth Israel members can support Jewish Family Services (for their food bank) and recycle at the same time! Globally, more than 200 million people are recycling through these Terracycle “brigades,” (https://www.terracycle.com/en-US), reducing more than 7.5 billion pounds of waste, earning more than 44 million dollars for charity. A large number of national brands are involved with this. At BIC, we are starting with recycling with Kroger’s Simple Truth flexible plastic packaging. Simple Truth is Kroger’s organic and natural food products line. (Of course, if you have other ways to buy organic and local products with no packaging at all, that is even better for the environment, but this is one option when that is not available.) Many of these products have a hechsher as well.
Each piece of Simple Truth flexible plastic packaging you send in will earn you about 2 TerraCycle points and will be counted based on an average unit weight of 0.22 pounds. 100 points yield us $1 for Jewish Family Services.
Beginning in April, we will have a collection box outside on the Beth Israel porch– and a friendly Green Team member on the Second Sunday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon to collect these items. We hope to see you there!
