Rabbi Abraham Joshua Heschel is likely the most important and enduring theologian in the history of the Jewish people since Maimonides. He somehow wove together Biblical theology, Talmud, Medieval philosophy, and Hasidism with the best of modern philosophy (from Scheliermacher to phenomenology to James and Dewey) into a coherent and compelling explanation of religion in general and Judaism in particular. Today, when Conservative Judaism is too often dismissed as a brand, it is hard to fully appreciate that Heschel was, and is simultaneously an iconic, world famous religious thinker and also the main expositor of Conservative Jewish philosophy through the very same writings.
In this five session course, we'll read and discuss excerpts of Heschel's thought with explanations from Rav Nadav. Please register below!
