Eco Shabbat
Saturday, June 29, 2024 • 23 Sivan 5784
9:30 AM - 12:00 PMThe Green Team and Social Action Committee are jointly planning Eco shabbat for June 29th. A speaker will talk about the value of a plant based diet in regards to benefiting the earth, our health, and the intersection with Jewish values. Green Thing Farms, a local organic farm, will be providing delicious produce for kiddush and flowers for the bimah.
We are privileged to have Scott Nelson, Lead Information Technologist of the USGS Great Lakes Science Center and the Head Elder of Ann Arbor Seventh-day Adventist Church give d'var on “Plant Rich Diets - a Delicious Climate Solution”. As is well known, Seventh-day Adventists are among the longest lived people on earth due to their healthy lifestyle, which includes eating a plant rich-diet. Scott is active in his church’s Green Team and the Rotary Club of Ann Arbor North, and is a tireless advocate for plant-rich diets.
There will be an in-depth discussion and Q and A session with Scott Nelson after kiddush.
